Department of Management Studies (DoMS) at Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee)〔(IIT management programmes ) ''The Hindu'', October 25, 2004.〕 part of the IIT Schools of Management, was established in 1998 to impart education in management science. The MBA programme was launched by the institute to reflect the present-day needs of dynamic business and economic scenario and to harvest the talent of best technocrats of the nation by infusing the management concepts in them to face the challenges of corporate world. In 2012, DoMS, IIT Roorkee was ranked 12th among B-Schools in India by 'Business Today' and was ranked 10th in 2013 by 'Career 360'. In 2013 it was also conferred with “B-School Leadership Award” by Bloomberg-UTV in B-School Excellence Awards. DoMS, IIT Roorkee offers 2 year full-time MBA program with dual specialization. The department also offers Ph.D. program in Management. By the end of 2014-15 academic year, department has approximately 65 Ph.D. scholars in all management streams. Importantly, the department has been named for Top-rated Journal Publications and Outstanding Doctoral Awards since 2012-13. A number of scholars have published their research findings in peer-reviewed journals including the SCI indexed, for example, ''Tourism Management, International Journal of Hospitality Management, International Journal of Information Management, Management Decision, Policing, and Journal of Knowledge Management''. Further, scholars have received many academic excellence awards including the ''Emerald/EFMD Outstanding Doctoral Research Award, and Emerald IMA South Asian Management Research Fund Award'', just to name a few.
